Stu is thought to be by most to the finest No Limit Texas hold'em Poker gambler ever.

The three time World Poker Champion was born in New York in 1953 and started wagering poker prior to becomming a teenager.

The young bettor started out wagering gin and at the age of 10 had won his 1st gin rummy tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the time he turned fourteen the small poker genius had become a pro and stopped going to school.

In '54 Stu entered the record books by succeeding 10 grand in a gin rummy tournament without sacrificing a single hand, a record which still stands in New York these days.

The fast speaking superstar has been likened, in poker terms, to athletic greats such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Stu Ungar had a true ability for wagering poker but regardless of his achievements in Hold'em poker, he preferred wagering gin.

Stu once said that there might some day be a much better NL Hold'em player than him but he could not see how anyone could ever be a greater gin gambler.

In 1980 Stu Ungar was put on the world map as one of the finest Hold em Poker gamblers in the planet when he was crowned World Poker Champion for the 1st time. Amazingly it was the 1st time he had entered the tournament.

The subsequent year he put aside any suggestions that it had been a fluke, by effectively protecting his title. And in 1997 Stu set the record by winning his 3rd World poker championship.

Except this poker legend also fought with substance abuse and a year right after winning his third title Stu Ungar died in his hotel room. According to physicians, he had passed away from a heart attack which was brought on by his lifestyle.

Stu had started out with nothing but his skill and natural talent for the casino game which made this poker good a millionaire a lot of times over.
