Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn't let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
