Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn't a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he's picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
