Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn't a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated many of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he's learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
