Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He states that he's learning every single day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
