Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn't a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he's learning every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
