Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn't allow the detrimental comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn't a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. He says that he's learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
