Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he's picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
