Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
