Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn't let the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
