Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
