Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
