Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. He states that he's learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
