Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn't let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
