Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn't a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil says that he's picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
