Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn't permit the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn't a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he's learning every single day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
