Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn't permit the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn't a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he's picking up skills every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
